For our September meeting, we again met at a recommended new place, Bronko's Restaurant & Lounge in Crown Point. And we had another good turnout, 31 people, same as last month. The food was excellent and the prices very reasonable... no wonder Bronko's had so many people suggest it! Special thanks to Jim KF9EX for all of this month's photos below.
We had a few items to see for show-and-tell, but none made it into the pictures. Jim KF9EX brought a collection of old-time hams from the Lake County area. The Lake County guys also showed off their beautiful QSL card produced for the Indiana State Parks On The Air special event that they had participated in recently. The card quality was really nice, and they recommend The QSL Man as a supplier to anyone looking for some new QSL's. Levi WB9CAO showed us a nice ground bus device using copper pipe to bring all of our ground leads together to keep them at the same potential. He also showed a mobile antenna he picked up at a truck stop... advertised for 10/11 meter bands with a power rating of 2500 watts! Hmmm, the CB's can't run that much power, but neither can we! Gary WA6UOO also gave a nice demo of a working audio frequency generator that he had built from scratch. Thanks to all for helping out with our entertainment for the evening!
