It has been awhile since we last met at Gelsosomo's Pizza in Chesterton, but I think everyone had a great time there at our April meeting. We had a very good turnout of 38 people, including four who joined us for the first time. The food was delicious, and we had an excellent program presented by Carl Luetzelschwab, K9LA, on Solar Cycle 24 (our current cycle).
Although we have only had radio communications for a little over a hundred years now, there is still quite a bit of knowledge about sunspots and solar cycles from other observations. Carl is obviously quite an expert on radio propagation, and he has authored many articles and tutorials for the ARRL and others on this topic.
Carl was also kind enough to provide his original PowerPoint slideshow presentation that he used. If you don't have Microsoft PowerPoint installed on your computer, you can download a free viewer from Microsoft here. Or you can download a full-fledged office suite, called Libre Office, that will also open PowerPoint presentations. Libre Office is a free alternative to the Microsoft Office Suite, and you can download it here.
