These 40-page catalogs from the Valparaiso Technical Institute are school and course descriptions from school years 1945-46 and 1946-47. Although the differences between them are slight, it was worth it to show both copies. Click each thumbnail to view a larger readable image.
In 1947 our Chapter 36 member Gene Wiggins W9CWG graduated from Valpo Tech. He returned there to teach in 1953 and became the Trustee of the W9SAL club station which he maintained for about FIFTY YEARS. After Gene let W9SAL lapse in 2005, the call was picked up by Danny W9DWS (in 2007) who has also kept the name All States Radio Club associated with the call. Listen for Danny's W9SAL repeaters on 444.950 (131.8) in LaPorte and 146.625 (131.8) in Gary.
Danny was briefly a student at Valpo Tech himself in 1966, but he was lured away by good income in local industry. Then after a stint in the Army, Danny founded 2-way Electronics in Chesterton which he continues to operate, servicing local radio stations and two-way communications systems.
