Gil W9JZA and friends

Chapter 36 Charter Member Gil Galambus W9JZA was one of the most popular hams in northwest Indiana, belonging to many local clubs, and friend to all. He was just a little shy of his 98th birthday when he passed away in 1996.

These pics were taken at Saidla's Roller Rink at 9th and Indiana in Chesterton. Our Chapter 36 Member Bob Pence W9ORW was then a young lad (dating this picture to about 1955-56). You can see W9ORW stencilled on the Gonset Communicator 2 meter rig in the background of the photo on the left. Bert Summers W9VAY just passed away Oct. 22, 2009.
